Hyundai debuts a new top of the line three-row SUV trim. It’s the new 2027 Hyundai IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink edition. It’s coming on sale this summer and here are all the details we know so far. Hyundai calls this new SUV trim its new flagship. This is Hyundai’s most luxurious SUV to date. Let’s dig in!
The exterior is painted in Abyss Black Pearl color. While the theme is all black, different textures and finishes make the Black Ink edition stand out. The exterior treatment includes black chrome skid plate, gloss black roof rails, black window moldings and inner door handles. The appearance is finished off with exclusive black 21-inch Turbine Design alloy wheels.

This luxurious three-row SUV is based on the IONIQ 9 Performance AWD model. It means it has one motor in the front and one in the rear. This provides the AWD capability and 422 horsepower with a total of 516 lb-ft of torque. The power comes from a 110.3 kWh battery. It’s based on an 800-volt architecture and supports 350 kW level-3 DC fast charging. Hyundai says 10-80% change can be accomplished in about 24 minutes.

Inside this IONIQ9 is a very comfortable place to spend time. It’s a three-row six person layout. The first and second rows offer captain chairs that Hyundai calls “Relaxation Seats”. They offer heating and ventilation. The third row is not a penalty box. It offers plenty of space for most adults and heated seats.
The new Calligraphy Black Ink will go on sale this summer, but Hyundai has not announced pricing yet. We expect the price to be somewhere in the upper $70,000 range. The current IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Design model has an MSRP of just over $79,000.
The new IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 are built in Ellabell, Georgia at the new Hyundai Meta Plant (HMGMA facility).
