Ultra-rare & pristine Mercedes CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet heads to auction in Germany

There are fast AMGs, and then there’s the Mercedes CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet – a machine that feels like it was built with no restrictions. Built in microscopic numbers between 2006 and 2007, just 80 units ever saw daylight, making it one of the rarest and most striking open-top AMGs ever created.

Now, one pristine example is set for RM Sotheby’s auction in Germany, and it’s as close to factory-fresh as it gets. Delivered in August 2006, this Bright Silver Metallic car has covered just 1,997 km, backed by a recent €10,000 service. It’s the kind of mileage that collectors dream about.

Under that aggressive, wide-body shell sits a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine pushing out 582 bhp and an earth-shattering 800 Nm of torque – figures that still embarrass modern performance machines. All of it is sent to the rear wheels, launching this droptop to a staggering 300 kmph.
