Meet the 2026 Dodge Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition: New name, same 475 horsepower.
Over the past several years, there’s more or less been a consistent theme in the Dodge Durango lineup. You have your GT as an entry-level model, your R/T as a sort of in-between V8, your SRT with a big 6.4-liter Hemi, and naturally there’s your 6.2-liter supercharged SRT Hellcat. Since the brand trumpeted the return of the iconic Hemi across the entire Durango lineup, though, the naming scheme has shifted a little bit. There’s no longer technically a Durango SRT (outside the Hellcat), but there is now a 2026 Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition.
The idea here is to keep the big-old Hemi rumbling along above the standard 5.7-liter Hemi V8 now available in the GT (and formerly the R/T). So, strictly speaking this is the first time the Durango R/T model gets the big Hemi, which ups the horsepower by 32%, torque by 21% and drops the 0-60 time down to a sports car quick 4.4 seconds. The R/T Launch Edition further gets six-piston Brembo front brakes and four-piston rear brakes, an electronic limited-slip rear differential and high-performance exhaust.
Inside, this special version of the Durango R/T gets SRT-branded Nappa leather seats (heated and ventilated up front, of course) and a standard towing capacity of 8,700 pounds. Previously, that was only available through the Tow N Go package option.
The real kicker Dodge is banking on with the 2026 Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition is the price. Before destination, the MSRP comes in at $49,995. The automaker can then claim this is the brawniest, beefiest, most badass family hauler on the market under $50,000 (even if it’s only just under the mark). Factor in the $1,995 destination charge, and the baseline price rises to $51,990.
The Blacktop package available on other Durango models (20-inch black wheels, black exhaust tips and black badging) is still available for the R/T 392 Launch Edition. Five strip options are also available, as are the Trailer Tow Package and three-season tires.
As you’d expect, that price lands in the current gap between the top-end, 5.7-liter-equipped GT Premium models and the flagship Durango SRT Hellcat. Of course, you can still take things farther, and equip this R/T 392 Launch Edition as a “Premium” model as well. That adds in more goodies like an 18-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system, a suede headliner, carbon fiber interior trim, a leather wrapped instrument panel, a sunroof, upgraded two-piece brake rotors and the “full” driver assistance suite, which brings adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
The 2026 Dodge Durango R/T 392 Launch Edition Premium raises the price of entry to $57,595 ($59,590 with destination).
